Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009
1:30 - 3:00 p.m.
Nebraska Library Commission
1200 N Street, Suite 120
Crane Room (Lower Level, enter building on first floor, South side)

  1. Tackling the Task of Translation - Connecting Services to Communities. [Carol Brown - Administrator LanguageLinc Interpretation Services ] - LanguageLinc is a pool of highly trained and assessed interpreters providing service in southeast Nebraska. In addition to meeting general interpretation needs, their interpreters receive specialized training for interpreting in medical, legal, and law enforcement settings. Carol will give us some background on her group and field questions about best practices, regulations and provide some data on the language diversity of our state.

  2. Revisit and discuss creation of a Membership Committee to maintain a current listing of Nebraska Webmasters' Group member names, agencies, e-mail addresses, etc. Committee members would cross-reference our list serve e-mail group spreadsheet (painstakingly researched and assembled by Curt Peacock) against the State Government Directory, perhaps on a monthly or or quarterly basis).[Group]

  3. Revisit and discuss upcoming meeting's locations/visiting other agencies or locations ("field trips" to locations of interest to see who is doing what and how...) and possibly greater frequency than the currently scheduled six meetings per year (every other month).[Group]

  4. Revisit and discuss forming a beta-testing group for new state government web sites as they are rolled into production. Should this group be part of a staged process or simply be an available resource for interested agencies and staff?

  5. Revisit and discuss researching and/or developing best practices regarding online payments and fees. Do we want this to be a scheduled presentation by an identified expert in this area? Do we simply want a group who is doing it "well" to share their experiences with the us ? [Group]

  6. Solicit "need based" ideas from the group with regards to presenter schedule. What is it that the agencies would really like assistance with, more information on, support for their efforts and direction on next steps to improve their sites etc. Training sources - sharing info.

  7. Adjourn.
